Areas of Expertise

Family Therapy

Systemic therapy seeks to understand the individual in relationships with others, rather than in isolation.

Who can attend?

Family therapists understand that different people have different ideas about what ‘family’ means, so family is used to describe any group of people who care about each other and call themselves a family. As well as parents and children of all ages, this may include grandparents, siblings, extended family, friends and other professionals. Sometimes it may be helpful for all the family to come together, at other times parents may find it useful to come alone, or the therapist may suggest different combinations of family members.

How many sessions will we be offered?

Every family is invited to an initial family therapy assessment appointment to meet the therapist. This first appointment is an opportunity for the therapist to get to know you and your family, think about your situation, and consider what you would like to explore and change. During this meeting, you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have and you and the therapist can decide together how many family therapy sessions would be helpful.

Couples Therapy

Couples Therapy can be valuable for couples facing various challenges that strain their relationships. Common issues that drive couples to seek professional help include communication problems, unresolved resentments and power dynamics in the relationship, financial conflicts and sexual issues. Additionally, disagreements about parenting, emotional distance, conflict resolution difficulties, significant life changes and external stressors like work or health concerns often lead Couples to Therapy.

What It Can Help With:

  • Repeated arguments or unresolved conflicts.

  • Feeling disconnected or unsure about staying together.

  • Rebuilding trust after a betrayal.

  • Co-parenting struggles or disagreements.

  • Understanding how individual beliefs and patterns affect your relationship.

It’s a safe and collaborative space where you can share your thoughts and experiences, and move towards establishing a common ground.

Parenting and Co-Parenting Support

The key to parenting is finding the right balance between setting rules and boundaries whilst promoting positive behaviour and supporting your child’s emotional development, education, health, and safety. Attempting to achieve this balance can sometimes feel overwhelming.I provide specialist advice and consultation to assist in formulation of your child’s difficulties and treatment informed by systemic theoretical approach.

What Parenting Support Can Address:

  • Effective Communication: Strengthening your relationship with your child and resolving conflicts.

  • Boundaries and Discipline: Setting clear rules while fostering positive behavior.

  • Emotional Resilience: Helping your child build confidence, self-esteem, and coping skills.

  • Co-Parenting: Collaborating effectively after separation to prioritize your child’s well-being.

By focusing on your family’s unique situation, we can develop strategies to create a balanced, supportive, and harmonious environment for your child to thrive.

Individual Therapy

Sometimes, the challenges we face as adults are deeply rooted in patterns formed earlier in life. Individual therapy helps uncover and address these patterns, giving you the insight and tools to create healthier and more fulfilling relationships and experiences.

For example:

  • If you struggle to express your needs, it might lead to feeling unheard in relationships.

  • If anger feels overwhelming, it might create tension or conflict in your personal life.

Through therapy, we explore these challenges and work together to understand their origins, break unhelpful cycles, and develop healthier ways of thinking and interacting.

Feedback From Previous Clients

Gina Chinbat is a very experienced therapist who listened and validated my concerns. Even my teenager felt at easy expressing his feelings and emotions. Gina was able to understand each side of the argument and find the balance between all sides. Straightaway Gina pinpointed what was not working and what needed to change in my family dynamics and gave us reliable, practical exercises to apply and resolve conflicts. Gina is kind, patient, empathetic, very insightful, considerate, and helpful. She made a difference to our lives and changed my approach to conflict resolution and thus parenting.
